Can Beaucerons Be Guard Dogs?
Wanting to get a Beauceron puppy and need to know whether a Beauceron can be a good guard dog or if Beauceron Dogs are protective of their owners?
According to pet trainers, Beauceron Dogs score out of 5 in the scale of breeds that are considered the best guard dogs.
This dog is not recommended to be a watchdog.
Training a Beauceron To Be a Watch Dog
A watch dog just simply alerts their owner to somebody coming close to their property. Even when your dog isn't a police canine, most barking dogs will deter an intruder even if they aren't big. Most guard dogs also make terrific watch dogs, but not all watch dogs make good guard dogs.
Top 5 Best Guard Dogs
2. Cairn Terrier - Although little, the Cairn Terrier is intense. They are strong-willed, fiery little terriers that are quite observant of their environments and will notify their owners to any novel activity in no time. Because of this, they make exceptional watch dogs.
3. Rottweiler - The Rottweiler is a large German guard dog breed that is greatly loyal to its family but wary of strangers. Although, they are not a great choice for inexperienced pet dog owners.
4. German Shepherd - They are terrific guard dogs that will notify their owners of any strangers just a little too close to their homes.
5. Akita - They will quickly signal their owners to any uncommon activity. They are strong dogs that are not well-suited for the novice owner, but are almost unparalleled in their loyalty to their owners.
Beaucerons are uncannily intelligent and adept at any task involving learning, memory, and reasoning. They are courageous and calm, and make reliable, thoughtful guardians. This is an extremely loyal breed that is eager to please its family; however, if not properly trained, the Beauceron can run the family. Beaucerons are patient with children, but can be overwhelming to them or try to herd them. They may be wary of strangers and do not take to unfamiliar dogs. They can get along with other family dogs and pets.
