    Recognizing why a breed was created, and the country and climate it initially came from, can help you understand what to expect in terms of behaviour and character.

The Dorkie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Dachshund and the Yorkshire Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

3. Phone the nearby vets to see if someone has brought in your lost pet.

What to do if you find a lost Dorkie

If you find a Dorkie Dog or any other pet and it does not have an identification tag with a phone number, you can:

3. Call the Local Authority to collect the lost animal.

4. Take the pet to the local Animal Shelter near to your area.

5. Take the pet to the local Vet who normally scan the animal’s microchip and locate the registered owner of the pet.

Laws Regarding Missing Pets

1. It is against the law to keep any animal that you find.

2. Pets are generally considered property and it is illegal to take and keep someone else’s property.

3. You must contact your local animal control unit and file a FOUND AN ANIMAL report for any dog or cat you find.

4. To reclaim your lost dog, cat or other pet from the animal shelter you must pay a release fee.

5. If your dog or cat is unregistered, you will have to register your pet before you can take it home.
