Are Lucas Terriers Friendly?

Are Lucas Terrier Dogs Aggressive To Strangers

When it comes to choosing a pet dog, you most likely want one that is friendly, whether that's toward people, other pets, or both. Put simply, a happy-go-lucky pooch that gets along with everyone.

While most pet dogs are absolutely fond of people, some are extremely sociable and love to meet new people all the time. Friendliness doesn't necessarily depend upon breed. The majority of dogs are friendly if they have been introduced to new people, places, and adventures as they were growing up.

So, essentially, you can make any dog into a friendly dog if you ensure they have an active social life and a happy home. Almost all dogs will be social with their owners, but some breeds were bred as guardians and can be wary and even threatening toward strangers.

    Top 5 Friendly Dog Breeds

    1. Labrador Retrievers personality towards people is almost incomparable. Labradors are extremely social toward everyone they meet and many behavioral problems in the breed arise because of their aspiration to be around people.

    2. Poodles very energetic, social, and intelligent dogs that make amazing friends. They do very well in a range of different dog sports and appreciate the company of people, friend or stranger.

    3. Pug is so adored partially due to its looks, but also because of its terrific personality. Pugs are very social, they love everyone and get along very well with other animals.

    4. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is among the smallest spaniels, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bred primarily as a companion and lapdog. Due to this, they are incredibly friendly with their families and strangers, happily meeting as many new people as they can.

    5. Boxer was originally bred as a guard dog in Germany, but there are very few working Boxers left. Today, most are active, smart family companions that are fantastic for individuals and families alike. They are quite social dogs and enjoy meeting and playing with new people and other dogs.

Lucas Terrier Information

It is a sturdy, symmetrically built, working terrier like an old-fashioned Ilmer Sealyham type, created only by crossing an existing Lucas Terrier with a Norfolk Terrier or with a small Sealyham Terrier. A latter-day Norfolk Terrier mated with a latter-day Sealyham Terrier does not produce a Lucas Terrier because it will not trace back to the original Lucas Terrier lines. All true Lucas Terriers have a direct connection to Sir Jocelyn Lucas's original Ilmer Kennel based Lucas Terriers. The Lucas Terrier is bred primarily for temperament and companionship, and so should be friendly, with no aggressive tendencies towards people or other dogs, and not fearful or nervous while retaining the usual terrier traits. The coat should be fairly harsh, weather resistant and of medium length. It may be coloured or white, but the majority are tan, black and tan or saddle and tan. Dogs should weigh 14–20 lbs (6–9 kg) and bitches 11–17 lbs (5–8 kg).

The Lucas Terrier is a small, sweet, non-exaggerated British terrier that is making a comeback in popularity in the U.S. Smart and easy to train. Friendly toward people and other dogs. Excellent with children. Eagar to please. Not a yapper by nature. Likes to dig. Make sure you are this dog's firm, confident, consistent pack leader to avoid Small Dog Syndrome, human induced behavior problems. Always remember, dogs are canines, not humans. Be sure to meet their natural instincts as animals.
