Wishing to bring a canine into your home? Some canine breeds are easier to own than others, particularly for amateur dog parents.

To identify the easiest dog breeds to own, we looked at a variety of essential qualities. And you might be surprised by the traits that matter most. For example, you might think you want a smart dog. But highly intelligent dogs aren't always the easiest to train, because trainability is more about a dog's willingness to follow instructions than his potential to comprehend them.

You might think an active dog will be the simplest to keep healthy. A dog with a lower energy level and no genetic predisposition to disease will actually be easier to deal with. Additionally, choosing a dog with an easygoing temperament - and minimal grooming needs - will go a very long way toward keeping you right-minded.
